Then gravity takes over, pulling it back down again. As it reaches the highest point (the crest), it slows. A particle of water on the surface moves up. But they don’t simply travel in the direction the wind is blowing. This energy causes particles of surface water to move. When it blows across water, it transfers some of that energy to the water. It’s this difference in temperature that causes wind. Hot air rises, drawing in air from cooler areas to fill the space. It’s most intense near the equator and decreases as we get closer to the poles. What causes waves? Wind and, ultimately, the sun. These waves crash on the beach, waking you in the morning and lulling you to sleep at night. A few of the lightest and darkest shades weren't as pigmented or were less flattering on the lips compared to more of the medium shades. The majority of shades were very pigmented, easy to apply, comfortable to wear with light to moderate hydration over time, and lasted between four and seven hours on me. I felt like the formula felt slightly more emollient initially and "dried" a bit to more of a satin-to-cream finish after a few minutes (but not a true dry down, as it wasn't transfer-resistant!). The consistency has an incredibly smooth, creamy feel to it and has enough substance and thickness to it that it adheres well to the lips and usually doesn't pull into lip lines. The formula is supposed to be "long-wearing," "full coverage," and hydrating. This shade wore well for five and a half hours and was slightly hydrating. It was richly pigmented, and the color applied evenly and never tugged on the lips. The consistency was smooth, creamy without being too slippery, and seemed to be thinner than other shades in the range, as it emphasized my lip texture a little bit. Tarte Beach Waves Rainforest of the Sea Color Splash Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, dark plummy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish.
